Creativity on the Rebound...

It's been so long since I last blogged that I seriously needed to think about my log-in information. How awful is that? I LOVE to write; I don't really consider it a chore or a task, rather a "release," but for the last month I've found my creativity at an all-time low. This is not a good way to feel. Thankfully, I was able to do a little recharging this weekend at Saranac...
So, let's see. What have I been doing since my last blog?
Melanie and Mandy turned sixteen so we've been doing a fair amount of driving instruction (and I've noticed that steering my car from the passenger seat is not the best way to "help" the girls learn!).
I've had a pretty relaxed schedule at work and have been enjoying time with the girls.
My brother and his wife are putting in an in-ground pool, so we've been monitoring the progress on that and waiting for our first celebratory dip!
Mandy spent a weekend at a soccer camp in Morrisville. After being in Morrisville to drop-off and pick-up, I had to wonder WHY anyone would choose to go to school there? I suppose, if there degree programs are good, some people would consider this reason enough to live in the middle of nowhere. Anyway, Mandy returned with a strained MCL, which may prevent her from playing this fall.
One of my [Gilbert] cousins brought his daughters to town for a visit. Though too short a visit, it was really nice to see them!
Dan went to Chicago and I bailed on the trip at the last minute...trading in five days in the windy city for a weekend at Joan's and Dad's camp (really, Wade's camp).
Dan returned from Chicago on Saturday and I was thrilled to see him when we returned home last night. His trip was productive but he still didn't take my advice and eat at the Grand Luxe. Foolish man. I think we may be going back there in October (and I won't bail on him), so we can dine there then. He did hit Navy Pier and the zoo, both of which are fun.
This morning, I purchased the domain name for my new business, Shots by Shana. No, I am not opening a bar. I've decided to become the wandering photographer. Wait a minute; isn't this who I already am??  I will spend  a lot of time this fall (and hopefully in years to come), shooting candids and uploading them for sale on my website.: http://www.shotsbyshana.com/.
After a wonderful weekend on the lake and hundreds of beautiful anonymous shots, it's time I share.
Don't check-out the website yet (not that you could even if you DID want to because there is NO site yet!) I am anticipating that it will take me at least two weeks to put a draft-site together. Until that time, the ideas are simply stewing in my creative juices. I am hoping that Shots by Shana will allow me to spend more time doing what I love and visiting events/places that I may not otherwise visit. Eventually, I would love for Shots by Shana to provide enough income so that I may do it full time. Regardless of the outcome, I am excited about this new undertaking and look forward to blogging about it.
This morning, I was thrilled to learn that my request for a decrease in my office hours was approved by my ED and our BOD. I will travel into the office only three days a week (Tues., Wed., & Thurs.). Phew. Less driving is always a plus in my book.
Of course, I will actually do more driving this week than I care to. I head back to Saranac this weekend. I am hoping that I can convince Dad to rent a couple of wave runners because the girls would have a blast with them. With no Internet service at camp, blogging is impossible. However, I am not above blogging with pen and paper and may actually try to do so...
Though I have every intention of blogging at least one more time before the weekend is upon us, you just never know so I won't make any promises.
